Combining Western medicine, Eastern traditional healing techniques, and state-of-the art technology, Dr. Andrew Wasik is not your usual dentist.

A practitioner of one-body dentistry - a belief that the state of your teeth, gums, and jaw joints affect the rest of the body and that the state of the rest of your body influences the condition of your mouth - Dr. Wasik takes an integrative and holistic approach to dental health. "I do not see the body as teeth attached to a unit. It's the whole person."

Dr. Wasik's main focus is predictable and comprehensive dentistry, a way of looking into your future dental health and preventing rather than reacting to dental issues.

"Traditionally, dentistry was getting people from disease to no disease," says Dr. Wasik. Years ago, the only visits people made to the dentist were painful dealings with tooth decay, cavities, and tooth loss. Dentistry then shifted its focus to periodontal health, which meant that there was more time spent on the bones and the gums that hold in the teeth. A more recent focus with dentistry is the recognition that the teeth and gums are not everything: your teeth and mouth are part of the body and have significant effects on both your muscular and skeletal systems.

"If your bite is dysfunctional, you will start a cascade of effects. The cascade could be teeth not lining up, so the body adapts by grinding the teeth down. If that doesn't work, after time the gum and bone will be affected. If the tooth and gum are strong, the weakest link is the muscle and will therefore grow tired and ache. If that spreads further, you have an imbalance in your neck muscle, spine, hips, knees, and ankles."

The ultimate goal for Dr. Wasik and his knowledgeable staff is to "take people from no disease to well-being to feeling great and looking great!"

Dr. Wasik is also proud of his state-of-the-art technology. "In the traditional approach to dentistry, you have to see the cavity to diagnose it. The problem with this is that there is often a lot of destruction to the tooth. The drill is quite a rudimentary thing; it can microcrack the enamel on your teeth." Dr. Wasik uses air abrasion, a preventative dental technology that is drill-less, painless, and needle-less.

Using one of the newest inventions in dentistry, Dr. Wasik's digital radiography machine provides the benefits of less radiation, early and accurate diagnosis of dental issues, and more environmentally friendly treatment than other x-ray technology due to no chemical processing.

"If you want the best that dentistry has to offer, I offer that here. This means knowledge, compassion, a holistic approach, and technology - all of this in one package," Dr. Andrew proudly states.
