New Patient Comprehensive Evaluation

We understand that your teeth and mouth are part of you: a living, breathing person with various body parts connected as a complex system, also with emotions, ambitions and concerns. During your first visit we will observe not only your current dental health, but will also discuss your medical background in general, your life circumstances, needs and desires, and aesthetic concerns.

Based on our observations we will together choose the most appropriate direction for your future dental care.

What to Expect

The comfort of our clinic starts in the waiting room where you can enjoy a hot or cold beverage while you wait. A washroom is also available if you would like to freshen up or give your teeth a brush. We will also give you a tour of the clinic.

Your visit will be about 90 minutes. We like to know our patients completely, so we will cover many areas of your health including:

• Listening to your concerns and answering your questions
• Digital x-rays of all your teeth and a panoramic digital x-ray
• Digital photographs of your mouth and smile
• Assessing the fit and function of any previous dental work
• Examining the health of your gums
• Evaluating your teeth alignment, bite and TMJ
• Performing an oral cancer screening
• Addressing any aesthetic concerns you may have
• Understanding if you have anxiety about visiting the dentist
• Reviewing your complete medical history
• Discussing how your general health may impact your dental health, and vice versa

Dr. Wasik will then sit down with you and discuss the findings and their significance to you.

Rather than telling you what treatment you need, he will fully explain what can be done to improve or maintain your dental health. You will discuss the options, advantages, risks, pros and cons, and Dr. Wasik will encourage your participation so the appropriate treatment plan for you can be developed.

At the end of the appointment, Dr. Wasik will leave you with the ability to decide what’s right for you. A written estimate can be provided for any treatment options you have discussed.
